before the wedding...
Preparing for the wedding took much talent and many hands. Bows and mints and sewing and don't forget the tule!
the polterabend...
The festivities began with some German traditions the day before the wedding. Wedding guests met at the Uhler's home in Gillette to wish the couple good luck by breaking dishes. The more shards created from the broken dishes, the more luck for the couple's new life together. We received a lot of shards as well as the gift of a night together with family and friends, great grilled food and salads, music, and, of course, dancing! The warmth of the community surrounding our union filled the evening with a fun spirit.
before the ceremony...
Before the ceremony even started, folks were getting ready. Our parents, family, friends, and even Melissa prepared as they waited for the event to get started.
the ceremony...
Beautiful bride, handsome groom, a community of love to witness our vows... it was a perfect day!
right after the ceremony...
a lock in the park...
In the tradition of love locks, we drove to the Fishing Lake in Gillette to leave behind a padlock engraved with our names and wedding date. After throwing the keys into the lake, we made our way to the Moose Lodge for the reception.
We did it! The newly married couple just after the nuptials

the reception...
At the Moose Lodge there were many great and memorable things... pretty decorations, good food, a beautiful and tasty cake, toasts, bells, groovy tunes, great dancing, and an amazing collection of our favorite people!
the next morning...
Terry whipped up pancakes and Shirley put on the coffee for the hungry herd the next morning at the Uhler's home.
Waaay before the Wedding...
These smiles came directly after some of our first dances and our first ball at the University of Tartu Anniversary Ball on December 1, 2007.
On the 375th Anniversary Ball at the University of Tartu, we dressed up to dance and celebrate our own first year anniversary as a couple.
These violets were an amazing part of our life in Estonia. An early get-well gift from Uli to Jenn, this violent plant grew bloomed wildly for two years. Perhaps it was the love with which it was surrounded...
Couples in Tartu place locks on bridges to symbolize their union. After securing the lock to the bridge, the couple throws keys into the river, and we did the same, throwing our individual keys into the Emajõgi and leaving behind this lock as a powerful symbol of our future marriage.
