Our story
It began in 2006. Somehow both of us had ended up in this little university town Tartu south of Tallinn in Estonia. Jenn just arrived there in Summer, Uli was following a little later in late autumn. We were both looking for extending our social circles in this environement. Jennifer was taking part in a ski practice group to be able to take part in the cross-country ski marathon and Uli started visiting some Salsa lessons from a new hungarian Salsa teacher. We both met a very enthusiastic guy in our respective sports groups called Hape (Hans Peter). He came from Germany and was a little bit looking for the roots for his grand father, who was born in Estonia. He was also trying to extend his social circles, but used his own special method: He was hosting once to twice a month a Salsa party in his living room (we didn't know that it was in his private quarters, so both of us went without suspicions to this event). It turned out that these kind of parties were less scary than one might have thought and more a very cute institution and for Hape a motivation to be forced to clean up his apartment. Hape told both of us, Jenn in the ski-course and Uli in the Salsa class from this event and invited us. Therefore, we both didn't know what to expect. This is how Uli met this American lady, teaching English for administrators and professors at the University of Tartu and Jenn met this weird German guy, who just arrived in Estonia and started teaching Estonian computer scientists and trying at the same time to finish his PhD.
What does it take more to start of a wonderful relationship? A good hug, several lunches, a weird lonely office, a cheesy movie, a ball, and a firework!
